Happy Summer!

Happy Summer! Many thanks to the families who attended our spring workshops and parenting classes in Washington County. Look for our first fall parenting class starting on Wednesday, September 25NURTURING HOPE- a Nurturing Parenting series offered in English and Spanish for parents and their children with special needs and health challenges, ages 6-10. Dinner is provided and free childcare for children 2-5 is available. The series is hosted at the Tuality Education Center in Hillsboro.

Welcome to the New Year and an opportunity to take a FREE parenting class through Youth Contact in collaboration with community partners.

“The Incredible Years” in English with Spanish translation – This 12- week series emphasizes parenting skills known to promote children’s social competence, reduce behavior problems, and foster school success. “Nurturing Parenting – The ABCs of Parenting” in English. This 7- week series engages parents and children (ages 5-8) in activities and experiences designed to enhance self-awareness, empathy, personal empowerment, self-esteem and self-concept. This series has a unique element: Bridge Meadows, an inter-generational community composed of elders and foster and adoptive families, is hosting, and lessons will be designed to include grandparents and elders who care for children. Fall has arrived, which means that our 2018-19 programming cycle is underway!

Youth Contact is now registering for three(3) parenting education classes that will begin soon.

Nurturing Parenting– one (1) class in English and one (1) class in Spanish and Nurturing Hope  one class in Spanish. Details below!

I. Nurturing Hope (Spanish)    A 12-Week Series for Parents and their Children with Special Needs and/or Health Challenges, Ages 5-8   (Part of the Nurturing Parenting Program)

II. Nurturing Parenting (English) A 7-week series for parents of 5-8 year olds during which parents boost their parenting skills and children 5-8 practice self-regulation and behavior management

Free Parenting Workshop in Sherwood, January 31

I am happy to share that Youth Contact in partnership with the Sherwood School District will be offering a parenting education workshop for Spanish-speaking families on January 31, 2017.  Parents will learn how to effectively communicate with schools, teachers and children. Registration for this workshop is now open, but note that spaces often fill quickly and are limited to 20 families.  Once a program is full, we add interested parents to a waitlist and call them as spaces become available. Often, we have cancellations close to the start date.
